More info

This magnificent reproduction of a Babylonian stele, inspired by the ancient treasures of the 3rd millennium before J.-C., pays tribute to the rich iconography of Mesopotamia. Finely carved by hand, this stele represents a face decorated with pattern idols, emblematic of this ancient civilization. The idols of the time were central figures in the spirituality and culture of Babylon, one of the largest cities in ancient Mesopotamia (between present Iraq and Syria).

Babylon, located in the present Iraq about 100 km from Baghdad, was at the heart of Mesopotamian civilization, often called the cradle of civilization.
Around the 18th century before J.-C., under the reign of the famous king Hammurabi, Babylon became a dominant power in the region. The city is best known for its impressive urban development, monumental ziggurats, and rich artistic and religious traditions.
Babylon also left a lasting imprint on history with the Hammurabi Code, one of the first forms of written laws.

Made of sandstone, this reproduction was patinatede to give it the authentic appearance of ancient objects, recalling the stamp of historical artifacts.
Presented on a black base in sober and elegant metal, this stele is a fragment of history that evokes all the spiritual richness of the cultures of the Middle East. It could very well represent a funeral stele, used in the rites of the time to honor the deceased.

This unique piece is perfect to complete a collection of antique objects, transforming your interior into a true museum. By adding this exceptional reproduction to your collection, you celebrate the art, history and spirituality of ancient Mesopotamia, bringing a touch of mystery and millennial history to your space.
