Shitao (1642-1707) was a Chinese painter of the Qing dynasty. He was also a calligrapher, poet and landscaper while having donned the habit of a Zen monk in his youth.
His work, composed of landscapes and plant motifs, expresses complex themes with simplicity, such as the vastness of the world or the beauty of life.
