This fragment comes from a frieze adorning the Parthenon forehead in Athens, Greece (frise des Panathénées).

The original scene represented the birth of an outgoing Athena armed from the head of Zeus, the other gods assistant to the scene: the chariot of the Sun, Helios, emerged from the ocean marking the appearance of the day, and the chariot of the Moon, Elene, pulled by horses, plunged into the ocean.

This head is kept at the British Museum in London, England.

This sumptuous decorative sculpture of beige colour, finely realized has a patina fantastic.
The base is made of black metal.

The extreme elegance and perfection of this sculpture remains an exemplary piece of ancient Greek art from the time!
